Since Wednesday, September 14, the British can pay a last tribute to Queen Elizabeth II. To do this, they are ready to wait for hours to gather in front of his coffin, exposed at the Palace of Westminster until Monday.

On Wednesday, September 14, a 4.5 km long queue was observed along the Thames and all around the Palace of Westminster, in London (United Kingdom). Disciplined, the English and the tourists who came to pay their last respects to the queen waited all night from Wednesday 14 to Thursday 15 September. They are ready to do anything not to miss this last meeting with the queen. “I don’t know how long we’re going to wait, but when we started queuing, we were told eight o’clock.” says a Londoner.

All night, a long uninterrupted line was strictly controlled at the entrance to the Palace of Westminster, where the sovereign rests. For four days, until Monday, September 19 at 6 a.m., the English make their final prayers and bows before the coffin. At the exit, the British confide their emotions. “You walk in, and you feel like you’re in the presence of the best person in the world.”explains an Englishwoman, with tears in her eyes.
