Head to Cap Fréhel in Brittany to meet Abdellah, 28, fisherman and YouTuber. Born in the Paris region, he moved to Brittany with his parents at the age of 11, to be closer to his grandparents. “Brittany was a vacation spot. I started fishing with my grandfather, then on my own. Little by little I wanted to get away from the beaten track and now I fish for the fish that fascinates Brittany, it’s sea bass“.
Abdellah says he is worried about the number of endangered species. Preserving nature and fishing responsibly is also the message he wants to convey through his Youtube videos. “I am young but I am already thinking of the coming generations, my children and their children..that there are still fish to be caught from the shore and that they can have fun in this environment that I adore so much“.
Politics, Abdellah follows from afar. “I try to avoid negative vibes in my life and get to the point. Politics, I follow that from afar. I still keep an eye on it because it is important. There are ideas that I don’t like at all and others that I like a lot“.
Abdellah says he is close to those who “defend nature“, like Nicolas Hulot who inspired him a lot when he was younger:”I really like to follow the speeches of environmentalists. I am interested in everything but my favorite thing is being in the rocks and in a place where I have no network and where I forget everything.“
The vote, Abdellah is attached to it. “Yes I vote. I tell myself that my voice is not going to change much, but it’s like when I pick up waste: small gesture by small gesture, we can do great things“.
