This Wednesday September 14 was a day rich in emotions for the members of the British monarchy. And for good reason, the coffin of Queen Elizabeth II, who died on September 8, arrived at Westminster Hall… And to welcome her, all the members of the royal family were present. Prince Andrew, King Charles III, Prince William and Kate Middleton as well as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were therefore present to welcome the coffin and pay tribute to the Queen… A moment suspended in time when all eyes were on the coffin, and where Prince Harry could not contain his tears…
On the images to be found via the slideshow above, Meghan Markle’s husband indeed dries a few tears on his cheek during the procession. For his part, his wife stands next to him, her face closed and her gaze towards the ground… She too is visibly very affected by the tragedy.
As a reminder Harry had chosen not to wear his military uniform at this event surrounding the Queen’s death, a spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex issued a statement to royal reporters on Harry’s reaction to the news:
“Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, will wear a mourning costume at events honoring his grandmother”, says the press release. “His decade of military service is not determined by the uniform he wears, and we respectfully request that the focus remain on the life and legacy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.”
