“Well ordinary” to put advertising on the Sainte-Flanelle, says Nadeau-Dubois

(Grand-Remous) The Molson family made an “ordinary” decision by agreeing to sew an RBC bank advertisement on the Montreal Canadiens jersey, says Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois.

“There is a character, I don’t want to use a word that would not be secular, but an almost sacred character in the Montreal Canadiens jersey. It is also a symbol of identity in Quebec. It’s a team that brings us together. I find it a shame an advertising logo on this sweater, ”said the parliamentary leader of Québec solidaire in a press scrum, during a break from his journey between Rouyn-Noranda and Montreal.

“I found it quite ordinary. Well ordinary. The company that is the Montreal Canadiens is already making a lot of money. There are already ads everywhere when you watch hockey. On the helmets, on the tapes, on the ice, there are even since last year on the bay windows. There is publicity between games,” he listed.

Mr. Nadeau believes that the television viewer or spectator who watches a game at the Bell Center is already subjected to an “advertising orgy”, and this addition was really not necessary. “I think we could have kept the Montreal Canadiens jersey away from this publicity orgy. I find it a shame,” he lamented.

In his opinion, the absence of advertising on the Sainte-Flanelle “distinguished the Montreal Canadiens” and allowed him to keep a “different touch”. “It’s not a team like any other in the history of hockey,” said the politician and a sports fan.

He believes that the owners of the Canadiens “already make a lot of money” and that they could have “left the jersey without advertising”.
