Monday, September 12, the trial of the Brussels attacks began. These attacks left 32 dead and more than 300 injured.

On March 22, 2016, in a few minutes, Brussels (Belgium) fell into horror. Two bombs exploded at the airport and a third in the metro, within the European district. With 32 dead and more than 300 injured, the country experienced the worst tragedy in its history. Gaëtan Meuleman was one of the first rescuers to go to the scene of the attack. He became one of the spokespersons for hundreds of victims. He was impatiently awaiting the trial, which opened on Monday September 12. “It’s a chapter that must at some point end and be able to mourn”says the spokesperson for the Life4Brussels collective.

Six years ago, investigators quickly identified the suicide bombers and made the connection with the jihadist cell that had hit Paris. Ten people will be tried in the dock. Six of them have already been tried in the French trial last June, including Salah Abdeslam. He refused to stay in court on Monday, because he denounces the fact of being locked in individual boxes. A few months after France, Belgium undertakes an extraordinary trial, which will take place in the former headquarters of NATO. Nearly a thousand people are civil parties.
