“Le Devoir” launches a daily podcast

Information now finds its way to where readers, listeners and curious citizens of all stripes are. Any time of the day — and night, hello insomniacs! — it is possible to access relevant content and absorb it in the form that suits us best. A summary of the news delivered by newsletter? An interactive table making the rounds of electoral promises? A video summarizing the different points of view of enlightened voters? A five-step analysis formatted on Instagram?

News media such as ours have a responsibility to reach you where you are. This is why we are adding a format to our content offering and, from the end of September, are offering a daily information podcast, a project made possible thanks to the financial support of the Ministry of Culture through the Digital adaptation of print media companies.

Pick up the one will be hosted from Monday to Thursday by host and columnist Meeker Guerrier, whose track record and experience make him the ideal candidate to embody “the voice” of To have to. To his activities — animator at Noovo, The weekend threadcolumnist and host at Rouge FM and sports columnist for RDS —, Meeker adds a daily presence at the microphone of the To have to to tell the powerful stories of the moment, in conversation with the journalists of our editorial staff, experts or citizens placed at the heart of the action.

“It is an honor for me to join the team at To have to and take the mic of the brand new podcast Pick up the one. Podcasting is a must-have format in 2022, and I find it particularly interesting because it can reach listeners anywhere and anytime. The formula that we will propose to you corresponds perfectly to the way in which I approach the news: I generally like to take a step back to analyze events and dig to the bottom of stories. It’s also a great opportunity for me to feed my curiosity since I’ll have the chance to meet guests every day who know more than I do on a variety of subjects. »

On Fridays, it’s the journalist from To have to Philippe Papineau, author of the newsletter Evening Mailformer radio host and connoisseur of the podcast universe, who will take over at the microphone of Pick up the one. This duo will take control of the twenty-minute podcast, the objective of which is not only to place the attention on strong news carried by a reporter from our team, but also to allow listeners to dive behind the scenes of the writing.

Isn’t our job as a journalist to tell stories? With an intimate and relaxed tone, this is what Pick up the one will suggest to you.
