While climbing the normal route of Mont Aiguille (Isère), a 68-year-old man fell about twenty meters. An investigation has been opened to determine the causes of this tragedy.
The accident occurred around 11 a.m. on Sunday, September 11, at Mont Aiguille, in the Vercors massif. Leader in a rope of three people, a 68-year-old man started on the second length at the start of the normal route when he fell about twenty meters. He died instantly after hitting the wall.
The men of the High Mountain Gendarmerie Platoon (PGHM) of Versoud were alerted by a high mountain guide, who witnessed the scene. The intervention required the mobilization of a Dragon 38-1 helicopter with two men from the PGHM on board as well as a doctor from Samu 38. On the spot, the latter could only confirm the death of the victim.
A police investigation has been opened to determine the causes of this tragedy.
