(Detroit) LeBron James was sent off from the Los Angeles Lakers-Pistons game in Detroit on Sunday after punching Isaiah Stewart in the face as the pair scrambled for the rebound on a free throw.
James’ left elbow and forearm appear to have made contact with Stewart, producing a cut causing blood to run down his face. The Pistons center then went into anger forcing several of his teammates and coaches to hold him back to prevent him from attacking the Lakers star.
Stewart was sent off early in the third quarter, and Lakers guard Russell Westbrook was awarded a technical foul for his participation in the scrum after officials revised the entire streak.
James was escorted off the field and fans did not throw objects at him as he exited the locker room.
In 2004, a glass of beer thrown from the crowd set fire to the powder in the famous brawl involving the Indiana Pacers and Pistons supporters.
