She mixes singing, electronic saxophone and percussion, Cécile Douchet returns alone on stage under the name of Najma. After two weeks in residence at the Guérétoise de spectacle, the musician from Limoges is ready to meet the public.
The opening concert of the Guéret concert hall will give free rein to the bewitching notes of the saxophonist this Saturday, September 10, 2022.
Cécile Douchet is from Limoges. But his oriental and gypsy influences made him travel to many worlds. After founding the group Akan Khlen, the musician returns with Najma (star in Arabic). A new star born from the meeting between two travelers, explorers of sound textures. A solo project launched in 2020 which allows him to probe a new sound device. “It’s the first season of Najma, I hope to surprise and move”, she rejoices.
Najma’s coppery and electronic hues are to be savored live and soon at home or on the go, her first album is in preparation.
It is thanks to two local cultural associations in Creuse that Najma was able to benefit from a two-week residency in Guéret to finalize her techno music project.
Help with sound and light creation, provision of concert halls, this is the support offered by the Solima association by supporting four groups of artists per year. “It is important to promote these aesthetics, to seek out sounds that we are not used to hearing and to be able to develop amateur groups in the process of professionalization”, explains Ronan Bancelin, coordinator of Solima Creuse.
For subsidized concert halls, supporting young talents is also an opportunity to diversify their programming. “It’s something very sharp and stage electro is not exploited enough”, assures Hervé Herpe, director of the Guérétoise de spectacle.
These residences are partly funded by the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region.
