AS Saint-Etienne comes out of the red zone by winning against the Bordeaux leader

From 19th to 12th. Saint-Etienne can turn around and look at the classification with a little more serenity after its success, Saturday September 10, against the Girondins de Bordeaux in this remake which smelled of the glorious duels of the past. Thanks to goals from Wadji and Maçon, the Forez club finally took off from the red zone in which it was stuck after the six penalty points imposed at the end of last season and a chaotic start to the exercise.

For his last match behind closed doors at Geoffroy-Guichard, Another aftermath of the incidents in the barrage against Auxerre, the club of Laurent Batlles first suffered the high pressing of the Bordelais before gradually loosening the navy and white vice. And it was on a class action, signed Monconduit who carried out a control oriented in the middle of the race before serving Wadji, that they completely reversed the trend (1-0, 35th). No explosion of joy from the supporters to celebrate this goal but the horns which greeted a wedding close to the stadium, served as a celebration.

Quickly deprived of Elis, injured in the 11th minute, Bordeaux was not having a good day anyway. Without the technical mastery they had displayed until then, Maja’s partners never really worried the Foréziens. Emboldened, the latter even doubled the bet in the second half thanks to Mason who volleyed a ball badly repelled by a Bordeaux defense, which had however only conceded two goals since the start of the season, but rather badly inspired on this shot there (2-0, 67th).

With this victory, ASSE finally holds its reference match, if we except the easy victory against Bastia (5-0), and can finally project itself towards better days. For the FCGB, on the other hand, it is a setback that Amiens, the co-leader of the championship, could well take advantage of to take the lead in the standings in the event of victory in Amiens.
