The bees of Francilly

Bees have fascinated Samuel Couvercelle since he was very young, but he tried his hand at other professions before embarking on beekeeping.

Even though Samuel Couvercelle is the son of a farmer, he will have taken the time before embarking on beekeeping. He created his first building company at a time when the economic situation was not favorable, which did not prevent him from making some progress in this profession.

Four years ago he decided to change his life for a return to nature. It will be beekeeping not out of a taste for honey, he doesn’t really like it, but out of a passion for bees. Study them, learn about their life cycles, the diseases that affect them, up to embarking on the selection of Queens.

Asian hornets, varoa, and other lesser-known diseases are often the causes of bee mortality. Of course there are also pesticides, but agricultural practices are changing and in some towns or villages, zero phyto can allow good harvests.

It’s in Francilly Selency he has settled and it is within a radius of 40 km that he places his hives. Some have a good time in Vaux en Vermandois not far from the rapeseed fields in the spring. The forest of St Gobain is also one of his favorite sites. The linden honey he harvests has that good menthol taste we know from Picardy. Since Samuel harvests his honey he has learned to love it, phew! We can now talk about its organoleptic qualities. And even if times may seem difficult to maintain swarms of bees, Samuel does not seem more concerned than that.

You have to know bees and be very attentive in winter to keep the hives alive.

Today you find his honey in the grocery stores near his home and if you want to know more do not hesitate to follow him on Facebook
