In Nice, Thursday September 8, 32 people were injured in clashes before the Europa League match against Cologne.
One hour before kick-off, the first jets of smoke bombs are sent into the Nice stadium (Alpes-Maritimes). German supporters invade a stand. They are ultras, mostly hooded. They are determined to attack the Nice supporters. Some tear off the furniture present around them and use it as a projectile. The outburst of violence lasts for long minutes. 32 people were injured, including two stewards and a policeman.
Amid the chaos, a man was seriously injured. A Parisian supporter who was alongside the German ultras fell from a platform. He was hospitalized, but his vital prognosis is no longer engaged. Clashes had started in the afternoon around the stadium. 650 police and gendarmes and 600 stewards had been deployed according to the prefecture. It points to the responsibility of the leaders of the German club.
