The Lido, the legendary Parisian cabaret which ended its concerts this year, will now be called the Lido2Paris. The former patron of the Châtelet theatre, Jean Luc Choplinwas named its president and artistic director.
Collapse of turnover due to Covid
This room, deficit for yearswas acquired in December 2021 by the French hotel giant Accor from the collective catering group Sodexo.
Created in 1946 and famous for its house troupe, the “Bluebell girls“, the Lido has suffered a lot from the closures linked to the health crisis. The turnover of cabarets and music halls had collapsed by 80% in 2020.
The room will be devoted to musical performances
Instead of reviews, the new owner of the premises decided to offer musical performances. The first show presented at the Lido2Paris will be a production of the musical “Cabaret”, from December 1, 2022.
Part of the staff has been retained. The current director of operations of the Lido, Jean-Francois Richardbecomes for his part general manager of the place.
