Colts crush Bills 41-15

(Orchard Park) Jonathan Taylor set a team record with five touchdowns and the Indianapolis Colts crushed the Buffalo Bills 41-15 on Sunday afternoon.

Taylor had three touchdowns in the first half, en route to becoming the first NFL player to record five majors in a single game since Alvin Kamara’s six touchdowns against the Minnesota Vikings on Dec. 25, 2020.

Taylor ended his game with 185 rushing yards and edged Derrick Henry for first in rushing yards (1,122). Taylor also shows a total of 14 touchdowns, which put him ahead of James Conner at the top.

Taylor had at least 100 yards from the line of scrimmage and a touchdown for an eighth game in a row, which tied the NFL best streak set by former Colts Lydell Mitchell (1975 and 1976) and LaDainian Tomlinson (2006).

The Bills (6-4) left the top rung of the American Association’s Eastern section to the Patriots (7-4). The two teams will cross swords twice over the next five weeks.

The Colts (6-5) continued their momentum as they are 5-1 in their last six outings. The Indianapolis squad had lost all five of their matches this season against a team that made the playoffs last year.

49^ers 30 – Jaguars 10

Jimmy Garoppolo threw two touchdown passes for a third straight week and the 49^ers of San Francisco topped the Jaguars 30-10.

Coming back from a convincing 31-10 win over the Los Angeles Rams, the 49^ers (5-5) scored points in their first five possessions.

The San Francisco squad made 33 of the first 37 offensive plays of the game and they had more first downs (14) than the Jaguars had in yards (12) midway through the second quarter.

Garoppolo completed 16 of his 22 passes for gains of 176 yards. He joined Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle for a major. Deebo Smauel ran the ball eight times for gains of 79 yards and a touchdown.

The 49^ers have won three of their last four games. The Jaguars conceded a 14^e defeat immediately against opponents of the National Association.

Texans 22 – Titans 13

Tyrod Taylor had two rushing touchdowns and the Houston Texans ended the NFL’s longest active losing streak by beating the Tennessee Titans 22-13.

The Texans (2-8) had lost their last eight games since winning the opener. They had not registered a major abroad since September 19.

Desmond King had two of the Texans’ four interceptions, who scored 13 points following a turnaround. The Houston team also had two quarterback sacks.

The Titans (8-3) had won their last six outings and lost for the first time since October 3.

The Tennessee team outscored the Texans 420-190 in total yards, but couldn’t overcome many mistakes.

Lions 10 – Browns 13

Nick Chubb caught a touchdown pass and rushed for 130 rushing yards, guiding the Cleveland Browns to a 13-10 victory over the Detroit Lions.

Chubb returned to the game after a one-game absence due to COVID-19. He grabbed a five-yard touchdown pass from Baker Mayfield and helped the Browns (6-5) go through the final seconds on the clock.

As fans shouted his name before each play, Chubb gained 36 yards in the Browns’ final offensive streak, which went by the last two minutes and 29 seconds.

Receiver Jarvis Landry scored a touchdown and the Browns were able to at least celebrate a victory after being outscored by 38 points last week against the New England Patriots.

The Lions (0-9-1) were unable to build pace after delivering a 16-16 draw to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Detroit troops haven’t won in their last 14 games.

Saints 40 – Eagles 29

Jalen Hurts had three rushing touchdowns, Darius Slay returned an interception for a major and the Philadelphia Eagles beat the New Orleans Saints 40-29.

The Eagles (5-6) have won their last two outings for the first time this season. Rookie head coach Nick Sirianni had his first home win in five attempts.

The Saints (5-5) suffered a third loss in a row since losing the services of quarterback Jameis Winston in a 36-27 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Trevor Siemian threw three touchdown passes and two interceptions and registered a rushing touchdown. Star running back Alvin Kamara was not on the roster.

Facing the best defense in the NFL, the Eagles amassed 242 rushing yards. Miles Sanders had 94, Hurts had 69 and Jordan Howard added 63.
