Quebec reports 1,594 hospitalizations, 44 less than the day before

The Quebec government adds 30 deaths to the COVID-19 toll on Friday and reports a drop in hospitalizations.

Two deaths have been recorded in the last 24 hours, but the toll is also increasing with six deaths occurring between two and seven days ago, and 22 others dating from more than seven days ago. The death toll from the disease now stands at 16,471 since the start of the pandemic.

There were 1,594 hospitalizations, including 568 due to COVID-19, a decrease of 44 from the previous day. Among them, 30 people were in intensive care, including 19 due to COVID-19, one patient less than the previous day.

The Ministry of Health has reported 875 new cases, although the number of cases listed is not representative of the situation since access to screening centers is restricted to priority groups.

As for health care workers, 3,641 were absent for reasons related to COVID-19, such as preventive withdrawal or isolation.

A total of 152 rapid tests were self-reported for Thursday, including 124 positives. The total stands at 285,584 self-reported rapid tests so far, including 239,264 positives.

With regard to vaccination, 16,447 doses administered are added, for a total of 20,861,789 doses administered in Quebec.
