The Minister of Sports reacted on Thursday to the violent clashes that occurred on the sidelines of the Europa League meeting between Nice and Cologne.

A few hours after the violent clashes between supporters in the stands before the Nice-Cologne match, the Minister of Sports was quick to react. Amélie Oudéa-Castéra lamented that “our sport be sullied”while the kick-off of this meeting counting for the first day of the Europa League conference was given 55 minutes late, Thursday, September 8.
“It’s fed up, it’s really fed up that our sport is dirty in this way, that we can no longer tell ourselves that we are going with our kids in a serene and reassuring way in a stadium”, affirmed the Minister within the framework of an event with sponsors organized by Sporsora. Later that evening, she posted a series of tweets about the incidents.

In an official press release published on its website at the end of the match, which ended in a draw (1-1), the Riviera club also reacted. “OGC Nice condemns in the strongest terms the incidents that punctuated the pre-match, which began with damage in town then by the forced passage through the access controls of the stadium on the German side and followed by the intrusion into the presidential stand of dozens of hooligans from the area reserved for Cologne supporters”is it written.
The Gym considers to be “stunned by this surge of violence” and “expresses its desolation for the public of Nice, witness and victim of these incidents”. The club “intends that all light be shed on the conditions which made this succession of events possible”.
According to the prefecture of the Alpes-Maritimes, the last assessment of 10:30 p.m. reports 32 injured, including one seriously. Among these, there are two police officers and a steward. Four people are hospitalized.
