The Blues will have taken very little time to find a successor to Thomas Tuchel, landed on Wednesday. In a press release, Chelsea announced that Graham Potter, until then coach of Brighton, was appointed new coach of his team, Thursday, September 8, with a five-year contract.
At 47, Graham Potter will know his fourth bench, after Östersunds (Sweden), which he had led from the fourth division to the Europa League, Swansea City (Wales) and Brighton (England). With attacking football, the England technician took the Seagulls to ninth place in the Premier League last season, the club’s highest ever top-flight finish.

“I am incredibly proud to represent Chelsea FC (…) I look forward to meeting and working with an exciting group of players and developing a team and culture that our fans can be proud of.”, Graham Potter said in the statement released by Chelsea. After a very good start to the season on the Brighton bench, with four wins in six games and a fourth place in the standings, the coach will be tasked with putting the Blues back on the right track as they currently sit in sixth position. His mission will begin on Saturday, with a trip to Fulham.
