At the end of April, a delegation from Odanak, near Trois-Rivières, traveled to Vermont to denounce four groups of Abenaki recognized by that state, but not by the American federal government.
Governor Scott, speaking to the Council on International Relations of Montreal (CORIM) on Wednesday, said he had never heard that the veracity of the indigenous roots of the four Abenaki groups in Vermont was disputed.
He came to Montreal to announce a contract for four electric buses awarded to a Longueuil company, Letenda.
Governor Scott made the promise to meet the Abenakis of Odanak in response to a question from a journalist from the Canadian network APTN, during the press conference that followed his speech.
