Initiated by the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA) in 2019, the exhibition has been redesigned by its curator Thierry-Maxime Loriot for its first presentation in the United States.
“Quebec shines and takes local talent on a journey,” said the latter, recalling that the exhibition includes a work by Michel Lemieux and Victor Pilon, as well as an immersive installation by Montreal studio Rodeo FX.
Thierry Mugler: Couturissime brings together 130 haute couture and ready-to-wear outfits by the great couturier who died last January. Visitors to the exhibition in New York will also be able to see the works of great fashion photographers, including Helmut Newton and Paolo Roversi, and visit a room dedicated to Mugler’s olfactory creations.
Thierry-Maxime Loriot recalls how much Mugler was an inclusive artist who marked his time. Thierry Mugler: Couturissime has already been seen by more than a million people and it will be even more so when it is presented at the Brooklyn Museum from November 18 to May 7.
We also owe its curator the most attended fashion exhibition in history, The fashion planet by Jean-Paul Gaultier.
