On the occasion of the tour of the group La Femme, Brut found Marlon, one of the singers, in the United States. Yesterday in San Francisco and today in Los Angeles, he opens the backstage of the group’s last date at the Elsie, one of the first clubs where he played.
La Femme was born in 2010, following the meeting of two friends from Biarritz: Marlon Magnée and Sacha Got. Now composed of 6 people, the group goes on tours, whether in France or abroad.
“It’s one of the first clubs we played in Los Angeles“
Originally from Biarritz, Marlon, co-creator of the group, is far from being disoriented in front of the characters of Los Angeles and Venus Beach. “With Sacha we come from Biarritz so we grew up in a fairly Californian atmosphere. We often saw people all naked with bathing suits and surfboards, barefoot, walking around the city with skateboards. Besides, Biarritz is called a bit like little California.” In 2010, it was thanks to surfer friends that Marlon and Sacha had the idea of starting a tour in the United States. “It was precisely thanks to surfer friends we met in Biarritz, who came from California, that we had the idea of going there to start our first tour of the United States.”
Performing in the United States was a real springboard for the members of the group. “It’s this tour that allowed us to be known in France because at the beginning in France everyone didn’t care about us. And it’s because we went to the United States that people took us seriously., explains Marlon. Tonight the band will perform at Elsie, one of the first clubs they played at.
