The Olympic flame will pass through the Drôme in 2024

We won’t know the exact date until spring 2023, but it’s confirmed on Tuesday: the Olympic flame will pass through Drôme during the Paris Gameson a course of 120 to 140 kilometers in one day.

The purpose of the day this Tuesday in Paris was to reflect on the route of the flame and the sites that will be associated with it. Emblematic, cultural and historical sites, which will be chosen in consultation between the department and the Paris 2024 committee. The day of crossing the flame will end with an “ambitious” party and popular around departmental sport and sporting values ​​such as surpassing oneself promise the organizers.

The Drôme has been labeled “Terre de jeu 2024” since 2019. Fourteen municipalities in the department also benefit from this label, as well as seven official preparation centers for which the Drôme has submitted applications in collaboration with the municipalities. Seven sites are labeled and now appear in the official catalog of Paris 2024 : the Vercors complex in Bourg-de-Péage for handball, the Maison du Judo in Romans-sur-Isère for judo, the Porchier stadium in Romans-sur-Isère for rugby 7, the Fenestrier base in Romans-sur -Isère for rowing, the Roger François gymnasium in Romans-sur-Isère for volleyball, the Cité de l’escalade in Valence, the Pignedoré lake in Pierrelatte for triathlon.

In addition, the department also supports the “Volunteer Program”, set up by the organization of Paris 2024. While the Olympic Games will mobilize nearly 35,000 volunteers, the Department will benefit from 24 places and will launch a call for applications and participate training volunteers.

In October, the Departmental Council will present a brand dedicated to this day called “Drôme destination 2024”.
