Skunk was born in Hendaye, a city of passage, of interbreeding, a meeting place for the inhabitants of the two banks of the Bidasoa, Irun and Hondarribia.
The 4 founders of the group quickly received reinforcements, and in 16 years of existence (1990 – 2006), the number of musicians on stage could vary, from 6 to 11: the group recorded 6 studio discs and participated in numerous compilations, but it is on stage that they reveal themselves, with agitated, festive concerts and a real sharing with the fans.
Txine Goody Paradise, ordinary chronicle of the banks of the Bidasoa
The title “Txine Goody Paradise” was released in 1999 on the album “Enbata”, and it speaks of a reality not always known to the general public, but to certain insiders: the purchase of cannabis on the other side of the border.
In France, the use of cannabis is illegal, but in Spain consumption is allowed.
Thus, people registered “64” regularly cross the border, to get supplies of cannabis in Irun, where they are known customers or quickly spotted.
The song therefore tells the habits of a consumer who often crosses the border, “because what he buys is good, but he smokes it too quickly”.
The group Skunk separated in 2006 but remains a musical reference for many, even today.
As a reminder: the use of narcotics is prohibited in France.
