They had infested the Leclerc drive in Chambray-lès-Tours for several months, the rats finally disappeared from the 2,000 m2 warehouse after a strengthening of the works and increased cleaning of the site during the summer. The employees are delighted with better working conditions, but doubt they would have had as much if the videos had not been made public.
Summer work to clean up the site
“Everything accelerated after the publication of the article”, explains Pauline*, an employee of Leclerc Drive in Chambray-lès-Tours. Major cleaning, but also major work in the warehouse: insulation of the ceiling, pouring of a concrete slab in an infested space, painting of the walls… “It’s more pleasant to work here, there have been changes”agrees Marine, employed at the Leclerc drive for six months.
The management has also decided to employ a cleaning company on a daily basis, “who does a more thorough job than before”, explains Gervais Marchand the director of the establishment. Last measurement, setting up a post to check one last time cleanliness of controls before sending them.

Faced with the scandal, Gervais Marchand regrets lack of communication with employees : “We had been doing work since March, we should have explained everything we were putting in place.” But Pauline nuance: “I’m not sure they would have gotten as much and as quickly if it hadn’t been for the article. We have the feeling that it was done to improve their image.”
