Sibyle Veil, President and CEO of Radio France, announced Tuesday, September 6 in front of employees from the Maison de la Radio et de la Musique, in Paris, that “she will file her application for renewal with Arcom“.

Sibyle Veil’s term as head of the radio group began in April 2018 and is due to end in mid-April 2023. The deadline for submitting applications to Arcom, the sector regulator, is October 21. Arcom will audition the candidates for the presidency of the group in November before appointing one of them by January 16 at the latest.

The current CEO of Radio France recalls in a message addressed to employees the developments that have marked his mandate at the head of the group: “Few sectors have been shaken up like ours: podcast boom and changing listening practices, multiplication of false information and growing mistrust of traditional media, development of music streaming, polarization of debates and speeches, drop in our resources”.

If she is re-elected at the head of Radio France, Sibyle Veil says she has “still a lot of ideas, and an obsession. I would like every French person to benefit from what we can bring them. I believe that our quality programs can change the lives of those who listen to us.” She also wants “to be useful tomorrow to those who are not yet listening to us”.

The CEO of Radio France finally indicates that “public broadcasting is today at a crossroads (…) As I write to you, I therefore cannot tell you in what precise framework the next five years will unfold“.
