Migration question, fishing agreements … Between Paris and London, the points of dispute persist. Jean-Yves Le Drian estimated, Sunday, November 21, that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was “a populist who uses all the elements at his fingertips to strengthen his political weight in the United Kingdom but also to blame others for the problems he encounters”. The head of French diplomacy denounced “populist maneuvers mainly against France” on the set of the program “Le Grand Jury” broadcast on LCI, RTL and Le Figaro.

The United Kingdom remains a “potential partner”said Jean-Yves Le Drian, claiming to be in favor of a “open dialogue” and “serious”. On the migrant file, “the British want us to take responsibility for the difficulties they encounter in managing migrants on their own territory”, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
“We assume our responsibilities”, added Jean-Yves Le Drian. And to insist: “We are also doing this on behalf of the United Kingdom. It is true that it pays us in part, but these are significant costs and we mobilize a lot of our staff, a lot of customs officers, a lot of our gendarmes to ensure Security.”
