Terraces often crowded with people, reservations strongly recommended to be sure of having a place, favorable weather: the summer season has been positive for catering professionals in Berry. Despite declining purchasing power, 82% of restaurateurs and hoteliers in Indre and Cher say they are satisfied with their summer. This is revealed by a survey conducted by Umih, the Union of Trades and Hospitality Industries in Berry. “It’s a general feeling of satisfaction with attendance and the return to normal after two complicated summers. Let’s not forget our closures and the different health rules, with masks, gauges, social distancing”underlines its president Véronique Gaulon, guest of France Bleu Berry this Monday.
In detail, 48% of the professionals questioned evoke a turnover increase of 0 to 10%. And almost a third of respondents say they have increased their turnover by more than 20%.
The restaurateurs were still forced to deal with reduced staff. “Many have been forced to reduce their reception capacities or their opening hours. They did what they could. The job forces us to adapt constantly”explains Véronique Gaulon.
