Third installment of the weekend soap opera in Svalbard (Norway), the focus is on the Arctic Ocean and diving into its depths. A French family ventured there to discover an underwater ecosystem.
It’s a dive into the unknown, a territory never explored: the depths of the Arctic Ocean. In Svalbard, an archipelago located between Norway and the North Pole, the Bardout family decided to discover the riches of the Arctic Ocean. The objective is to study an underwater ecosystem, where global warming is doing great damage.
The Under The Pole team practices diving and can venture up to 200 meters deep thanks to a carbon dioxide recovery system. But for safety, the equipment is doubled. Ghislain Bardout, co-director of Under The Pole, is a regular: “These are things that we know how to do, that we do every day. There is rigor, but no tension.”He is also at the forefront of observing the damage of global warming to Svalbard, which has experienced an unprecedented heat wave.
