A suspect has been arrested in connection with the dissemination of bloody images of the Caquiste deputy for Chauveau, Sylvain Lévesque, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) announced on Saturday.
The suspect is a 44-year-old man living in Saint-Béatrix, in Lanaudière, outside Mr. Lévesque’s riding. He will have to appear at the Palais de Justice in Joliette on September 19.
The investigation is still ongoing, however, the SQ said in a statement.
“We recall that it is important to remember that everyone is free to express themselves, but in compliance with laws and regulations, she wrote. Therefore, we remind you that caution is required in the comments conveyed. »
Last Thursday, Mr. Lévesque filed a complaint with the Quebec City Police Department after an image of his election sign dripping with blood circulated on social media.
The head of the CAQ, François Legault, laconically commented on the latest developments in this case. “We are happy that he was arrested. »
