SSaturday September 3 and Sunday September 4 mark the return of the Braderie de Lille after a two-year absence. The opportunity for bargain hunters to exercise their talent as negotiators, to the detriment of sellers.
Despite two years of absence, the Braderie de Lille (Nord) has not lost its essence. Bargain hunters always do good business in the northern streets and find what they need there. “We were waiting for the crush, we got it”, rejoices a buyer visibly conquered by his find.
After a two-year dearth, buyers are eager to find bargains in order to relieve an often strained wallet. Their weapon: negotiation. A shopper is happy that she got an item for more than half of its original price. On the side of the sellers, we laugh out loud: “People want everything”, plague a saleswoman. Once the negotiations are complete, sellers and buyers end up finding common ground around a dish of mussels with fries, the emblematic dish of the Braderie de Lille.
