“Violence and threats have no place in politics,” declared the leader of the Conservative Party of Quebec. There is no political party for which it is acceptable and we must be very vigilant in relation to that. »

He then invited his supporters to show the door to the Coalition avenir Québec by going to vote on October 3.

In Quebec, when we don’t agree, when we’re dissatisfied, when we’re dissatisfied with a government, we go to a polling station on voting day, we put a little “x” on a ballot vote, we put that in a ballot box, then we count at the end of the evening and we kick out those we want to get rid of.

“That’s how we move our ideas forward,” he said. We will never advance our ideas otherwise. »

He recalled that two Conservative volunteers “were attacked with knives”. The two incidents that allegedly occurred while putting up signs earlier this week. The Montreal Police Service has confirmed that it made an arrest for a first incident that occurred in the riding of Rosemont. The Sûreté du Québec was unable to confirm on Friday whether it had indeed received a complaint for the second incident which allegedly occurred in the town of Port-Cartier on the North Shore.

Liberal candidate Marwah Rizqy, who received death threats, had accused Éric Duhaime the day before of “channeling hatred and anger” in order to enter the National Assembly.

The election campaign is taking place in a tense climate. Images of CAQ candidates dripping with blood have circulated on social networks, including one of Sylvain Lévesque who is running in the same riding as Éric Duhaime (Chauveau).

Remarks by the Conservative leader made Monday at a rally in Lévis also raised eyebrows. He then said that unlike the outgoing Prime Minister, François Legault, he did not need bodyguards because “the people” are with him.

“The attacks begin, then the attacks have not finished beginning,” said Éric Duhaime, referring to the popularity of his rallies, which makes his opponents jealous. He then said he was ready to “eat the slaps”, but that he was not going to let his political opponents “attack” his activists.

You are from the civilized world, you are from the peaceful world, you are democratic people, you are people who have the future of Quebec at heart and you too have the right to express yourselves freely and not to insult anyone.

“I want to tell you tonight that you are beautiful, that you are not toothless, that you are not covidiots, that you are not tourists” tata”, that you are not imbeciles , then you know what you’re doing, he continued. If you are here this evening, it is because you are lucid, awake, altruistic and thinking about the future of Quebec! »

He ended by issuing a call for volunteers to put up posters, go door to door and get the vote out on Election Day.
