The Reds and Blues had to work to overcome d’Agen in the closing match of the 2nd day of Pro D2. After starting the season with a victory at the Stade des Alpes against Béziers (19-15) last Friday, the Grenoble rugby players were keen to continue away from home.
They first had to arch their backs in the first 10 minutes where they hardly saw the ball. On one of their first forays into the Agenais camp, they opened the scoring by the boot of Romain Trouilloud (14th) who doubled the bet shortly before half-time (39th). But on the reception, the Grenoble residents conceded a dangerous scrum in their camp.

In this match chopped by many penalties, the referee distributed a card to a pillar of each team, to Sam Nixon on the Grenoble side, Hans Lombard-Buret on the Agenais side. Then the Grenoble residents conceded a penalty which allowed the Agenais to finally open their meter after the siren (3-6).
When they return from the locker room, the Grenoble residents take advantage of a new ball stolen into touch in their own 22 to send Lucas Dupont on trial on a magnificent counter (44th). Test converted by Romain Trouilloud (3-13).
Agen presses and picks up the score in the second half
On the dismissal, the Grenoble residents put themselves under pressure 5m from their line and conceded a penalty coupled with a new yellow card. Outnumbered the Grenoble residents manage to get out of it and not to concede anything.
But back to 15 against 15, the Grenoble end up cracking on a maul agenais. Unconverted try (8-13) doubled with a yellow card against Grenoble again reduced to 14. Penalties accumulate and Agen picks up (11-13).
Suffocating end to the match for the FCG
Again cornered in their 22 meters, the Grenoble residents tear themselves away again to recover a ball and get out of their camp. They even get a penalty within a minute of the siren. Penalty passed by Romain Trouilloud after this one for seal the Grenoble victory.
The FCG thus joins Rouen at the top of the ranking of Pro D2. The Normans remain in front of the goal average. Next Thursday, the Grenoble residents will this time open the 3rd day of ProD2 against Oyonnax (9 p.m.).
