According to Extinction Rebellion, some 50 climate activists participated in this “non-violent” action, explaining that three activists had booked an official visit to the building before sticking, hand in hand, to the seat of the “Speaker” of the chamber. bass of the British Parliament.

The police intervened to disperse the demonstrators. For his part, a spokesman for the House of Commons confirmed “an incident” and specified “to be currently dealing with the situation urgently”.
“We are here today to target the places of power here in Parliament,” said one protester, Lisa.
“We have a terrible climate crisis, a huge, indecent crisis in the cost of living and (the political system) is not working,” she said.
Climate activists regularly stick to roads or works of art in the UK to protest climate inaction or demand an end to investment in fossil fuels, for example.
