After a tax cut and a check for $400 to $600, the leader of the Coalition Avenir Québec, François Legault, announced an increase in the financial assistance offered to low-income seniors.
If voters choose the CAQ, the government will increase from $411 to $2,000 the maximum amount for support for people aged 70 and over with an income of less than $24,195.
Some 1.1 million seniors will benefit from this third measure of the CAQ “Anti-Inflation Shield”, the cost of which is estimated at $ 1.6 billion per year for the Quebec state, according to the political party of François Legault.
“Many of our seniors are particularly affected by inflation. Many have small pensions that do not take into account the extreme inflation that we are currently experiencing, ”said Mr. Legault during his visit to Saint-Georges on Tuesday morning.
“Many of these people are women who have raised children. Our elders built the Quebec of today. It’s our turn to help them, ”he added, accompanied by candidates Samuel Poulin (Beauce-Sud), Luc Provençal (Beauce-Nord), and Stéphanie Lachance (Bellechasse).
