Danny Jansen ended the game with a single to left field in the 11th inning and the Toronto Blue Jays snapped a three-game losing streak with a 5-4 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Monday night at Rogers Centre.
The Blue Jays (69-58) won for only the third time in their last 10 outings in front of their fans. Over the weekend, they were the victims of a three-game series sweep at the hands of the Los Angeles Angels at Rogers Center.
Down 4-0 on Monday, the Blue Jays began their comeback in the seventh inning when Jansen slammed a three-run homer to left field. It was his 11th of the season.
They tied the score one set later. Cavan Biggio hit a double down the right field line and crossed the plate on a Matt Chapman single to left field.
“It’s been a tough weekend, but we’ve turned the page with a new series,” Jansen said.

The Cubs (55-74) took a 2-0 lead with a run in the third inning and another in the fourth.
Receiver Willson Contreras drove in the first point of the night on an optional. In the fourth inning, Seiya Suzuki crossed home on Nico Hoerner’s single to left field.
A double to left center field by PJ Higgins in the sixth inning gave the Cubs a 4-0 lead.
The win went to reliever Jimi Garcia (3-4) while Mark Leiter Jr. (2-6) was charged on the backhand.
