It was a good day for Canadian short track speed skaters on Saturday in Hungary. Pascal Dion took the silver medal in the 1500m, while Kim Boutin took bronze in the 500m, ahead of his compatriot Florence Brunelle.
The Canadian Courtney Sarault took bronze in the 1500m with a time of 2 min 23.118 s.
Montrealer Pascal Dion recorded a time of 2 min 13.048 s in the men’s 1,500 m, edged by Chinese Ziwei Ren (2 min 12.910 s).
In the women’s 500m, Sherbrookoise Kim Boutin (42.860 s) led throughout the final but was caught at the very end by Dutch Suzanne Shulting (1D, 42 566 s) and the Italian Arianna Fontana (2e, 42.801 s). Florence Brunelle, of Trois-Rivières, recorded a time of 43.317 s, good for the 4e rank.
