Rory McIlroy rallied from a six-stroke deficit over Scottie Scheffler on Sunday to win the Tour Championship, the final tournament of the FedEx Cup playoffs.

The door was wide open for Scheffler, world number one, to conclude his dream season by collecting top honors at the last tournament of the season. With a six-stroke lead over his closest pursuer, victory was almost assured.
However, it was McIlroy who played the best golf and made the fewest mistakes. He handed a card of 66 (-21) to win the Championship for the third time in his career, but also to get his hands on the tidy sum of 18 million dollars.
