A 49-year-old woman was found dead on Friday at her home in Alièze, near Lons-le-Saunier (Jura), reports France Bleu Besançon on Sunday. Her 40-year-old spouse was taken into custody on Saturday, the Lons-le-Saunier prosecutor’s office announced on Sunday.
This Friday, it was the woman’s employer who alerted the emergency services, being without news of his employee. In the morning, the Jura firefighters then discovered the lifeless body of the woman at her home.

An investigation was opened by the prosecution for “aggravated voluntary homicide”. According to the first elements of the investigation, communicated this Sunday by the prosecution, it is “a violent death involving the intervention of a third party”.
Untraceable at first, her spouse, the main suspect, was arrested on Saturday in Carnon, near Montpellier (Herault). The man had presented himself to the police to declare the theft of his wallet. “He made strange remarks reporting memory loss and the impression of having done a huge mistake“, explains the prosecutor in his press release. This man has already been sentenced several times by the courts. He is still in police custody this Sunday. An autopsy of the victim must be carried out at the Forensic Institute of Besançon.
