the situation around the Zaporizhia power plant is worrying

It is the powerhouse of all dangers in Ukraine. That of Zaporijjia, occupied by Russian troops, is still functioning but the operator of the Ukrainian power plants mentions high risks in terms of radiation and fire. As a result of the recent bombardments, the plant’s infrastructure has been damaged. The Russian Defense Ministry accuses the Ukrainian army of deliberately firing at the site.

For his part, the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, asks the Russians to release the Zaporijjia power station. “It is so important that the Russian troops leave the plant and the surrounding areas, and that the threat of bombing the plant or the power lines that are connected disappears”, he points out. The UN has called for an end to all military activity around Zaporizhia. Experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency are expected on site next week.
