Saturday August 27, in the Bouches-du-Rhône, monitoring is required for the start of fires. The National Forestry Office and the gendarmerie keep watch.
Saturday August 27, in the Durance, campers are illegal. They lit a fire and it will cost them dearly since the fine will be 135 euros. “We really don’t know. We saw people doing it, and here it is. We thought it was not forbidden“, testifies a young camper. The National Forestry Office monitors people who organize bivouacs. Also, they are attentive to cigarette butts and exhaust pipes. The group is organized thanks to GPS points and helicopters which help them.
To help the authorities surveying the Aix-en-Provence area (Bouches-du-Rhône), a helicopter flies over the area. “Every day in the department, there are six patrol areas which are therefore patrolled by foresters“, explains Pierre Laurent, legal referent of the Police of the environment. The objective of these patrols is to avoid the outbreak of fire. The department of Bouches-du-Rhône was disaster by hundreds of flame outbreaks during the summer season.
