The representatives of the maple leaf had also defeated the Finns by this mark, two days earlier.

In the duel of the day, Sarah Fillier set the tone for the winners, hitting the target almost halfway through each of the first two engagements. On each occasion, she beat goaltender Andrea Braendli with an accurate shot from the slot as the Canadians buzzed in the offensive zone.

Shortly after Fillier’s second success, more precisely 92 seconds later, Emily Clark took advantage of a nice delivery from Blayre Turnbull to shoot on reception and score the third goal for hers. Turnbull is the one who completed the score for the representatives of the maple leaf, at the end of the third period.

The Canadians completely dominated this duel, directing a total of 46 shots on the opposing net. At the other end of the rink, goaltender Ann-Renée Desbiens was very lightly occupied, she who only faced eight shots. She was deprived of her shutout in the third period, when Alina Marti beat her.

The Canadians will continue the group stage with a clash against the Japanese on Sunday, before concluding with an expected duel against the Americans on Tuesday.
