Top 14 – UBB: better and a victory for UBB against Clermont (17-14)

Eager to make people forget their Bayonne outing, the Bordelais attacked hard. They monopolize the ball but two ahead of Lamothe and Lucu prevent them from going behind the line.

The UBB moved into the Auvergne camp and following a sequence upwind, Lucu scored a logical first try (0-7, 18th). ASM waits half an hour of play to finally react. It pushes the Union to the fault, causes the temporary expulsion of Cazeaux (33rd) but in numerical inferiority, the Girondins resist and defend their line.

Three yellow cards on the Girondin side

At the break, the Union changes 13 players and strikes entry on a school movement concluded by Cros and transformed by Jalibert (0-14, 42nd). Annoyed, ASM reacted and on a breakthrough from the back Newsome, Raka reduced the score (7-14, 45th).

Clermont, much more aggressive, insists and gets a penalty try to pick up (14-14, 49th). UBB reacts to the dismissal and Jalibert gives them the advantage (14-17, 52nd).

But the Gironde team commits too many mistakes and Marais in turn receives a yellow card. Three minutes later, the UBB even found themselves at 13 with the card received by Douglas on a carried ball.

The ASM does not take advantage of this and misses its chance. The Union, again at 15, misses two big try opportunities late in the game. As well as a penalty by Jalibert. Without consequence in the end for the players of Christophe Urios who reassured themselves before the big challenge which awaits them on September 4 against Toulouse for the 1st day of Top 14.
