Last night, Thursday August 25, 2022, M6 wanted to train its followers in music with “The 500 favorite songs of the French”. A program during which personalities including singers, animators or comedians tried to guess which were the favorite songs of the French according to a category. The personalities in particular had to find which was the love song which came first in the votes. And it was Hélène Darroze, famous chef and great friend of Laeticia Hallyday, who hit the bull’s eye by choosing “I promise you” from the late rocker and released in 1986.
The title was then interpreted on stage by Zaz and Nolwenn Leroy. But the performance of the two singers obviously did not convince all the viewers that evening. “In fact, Nolwenn Leroyit’s the Emmanuel Macron of French song, no one will admit to appreciating it yet they are still there…”, “pause but who is listening zaz, nolwenn leroy and friend in 2022??? Make an effort”, “How @M6 dares to have Johnny Halliday’s “I promise” Zaz and Nolwenn Leroy sing ? Was there no one available? Even a candidate of Don’t forget the lyrics would have better than Zaz“, could we read on Twitter.
Despite some criticism, the Breton still had her supporters behind her: “Like it or not #NolwennLeroy was incredible on this cover!”, “This cover of “I promise you” by Zaz and Nolwenn Leroy is magnificent”, “Nolwenn leroy I’m still in love it’s amazing“. Arnaud Clément’s companion then returned to the stage to perform “Loin”, taken from his new album La cavale.
