Five Canadians in good form at the Canadian Open

We will have to wait until Saturday morning to know the identity of all the golfers who will escape the ax at the Canadian Women’s Open, since the second round was interrupted by darkness. Nevertheless, five Canadians made a good showing on Friday in Ottawa.

Ontario’s Maddie Szeryk is the one who stood out the most by playing 68 (-3). She thus climbed to 14th place tied, by virtue of a cumulative card of -7.

Crowd favorite Brooke M. Henderson also secured her spot in the third round with a 68. She finished 32nd after hitting the ball 137 times (-5) in two rounds.

However, Szeryk and Henderson will have a lot to do to aspire to top honors. The South Korean Narin An persisted and signed by subtracting six more strokes from par. At -13, she is two shots ahead of the three golfers tied for second.

Still on the side of the representatives of the maple leaf, Rebecca Lee-Bentham placed herself in a good position to escape the ax established at -2, she who displays a score of -4. However, she did not complete her round and will resume action at the 15th pennant on Saturday.

Alena Sharp did the bare minimum to continue her journey by playing 72 (+1), she who is tied with her compatriot Lauren Zaretsky in 57th place, at -3.

Quebec amateur player Sarah-Eve Rhéaume (69) is a hair’s breadth from the feat, but her cumulative card of -1 will not allow her to play at the Ottawa Hunt Golf Club on Saturday.

All the other Canadians in the running also saw their tournament come to an end, including Quebecer Maude-Aimée Leblanc (71).
