Two fake doctors, registered on Doctolib, nevertheless offered consultations, reveals Radio France, Friday August 26. The Montpellier prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation for “illegal practice of medicine”. Doctolib promises to strengthen its controls.
Two fake doctors on the online appointment platform Doctolib: this is what this mother of a family suffered. On June 18, she decided to make an appointment on the platform for her two children, because her usual doctor was absent. The consultation is carried out in video with a certain Laura Smith, replacement for a certain David Quentin, child psychiatrist.
Very quickly according to her, the consultation turns out to be suspicious. “The pathology of my children is a specific pathology, with many acronyms. And when I use these acronyms, I feel like behind, she doesn’t pick up“, describes Carole, the victim. The patient will never receive the prescription for her children. She will only receive a clearly false care sheet, without a doctor’s registration number.
Doctolib reacted. Previously, doctors who registered on the platform had up to 15 days to prove their right to practice. A delay which would have benefited the two alleged doctors, who never provided the documents.
