A hit and run took place on Thursday August 25, near Guéret, in Creuse. Two gendarmes were injured after an Englishman tried to escape them. The individual is a notorious ex-con, who posed as a Secret Service agent for years.
La Creuse is at the heart of a Hollywood news item, Friday August 26th. 29 dogs, a reclusive woman and her often absent companion had lived here for seven years. During an operation of the veterinary services, the man refused to present his papers to the gendarmes, before driving into the car on two agents. The driver is Robert Hendy-Freegard. Aged 51, he is nicknamed “the puppeteer”. He is a former notorious con man in the UK, who has already spent four years in prison, and is the subject of a documentary.
From the age of 21, he posed as a British secret service agent. He used this so-called spy status to exert psychological control over dozens of people, especially women, in order to extort money from them. He was arrested, and convicted. Upon his release from prison, Robert Hendy-Freegard rebuilt his life with a woman, who gradually cut off all contact with her children.
She lived, since 2015, hidden in a house in a village in Creuse. “This poor woman lived for seven years almost sequestered, and she lived in terrible conditions”, confides a local resident. The mayor of the town had tried to alert social services, in vain, because she had never filed a complaint.
