Sabrina Delporte, based in the town of La Tour-sur-Tinée, a small picturesque village, breeds donkeys from Provence. This endangered breed deserves our full attention, which is why she wanted to promote it.
It is a passion, already of nature, of freedom too. And hiking. And then the animal. What the donkey is a really fantastic animal and its bad reputation is unfair because it is a really endearing animal, affectionate, really strong-willed too. Afterwards, it is true that he is stubborn, but in fact, he needs a lot of patience, you have to understand him, so he needs time. You have to make him understand that it’s going to be fine.
Hiking with donkeys is nothing more than a form of carrying, with the difference that the donkey is not only a means of transport, but the hiker’s faithful travel companion. A rental can be an hour and a half, half a day (between 3 and 4 hours of walking with picnic break included), full day (between 5 and 6 hours of walking with picnic break), or over two days , for loop or round trip routes. The activity ride with our donkeys is possible in summer (from June to August on reservation). Departures of walks are recommended between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., take into account the half-hour explanation of the package and safety instructions. But personalized hikes are possible.
It is a lover of the region and animals who welcomes you
At the beginning, I wanted to make chevrières with goats, to make goat cheese, but I am a vegetarian. And well, there is a particular context where I could not bring the kids to the slaughterhouse. Sensitive to the animal cause, I had the opportunity to train in small dairy ruminants and I then did additional training as a donkey driver before setting up as a donkey breeder. In 2012, I acquired my first donkey and in 2014, the whole herd was made up: the adventure could begin. Thanks to my donkeys and the milk produced, I offer you a range of donkey milk soaps, soaps with softening properties.
Every year in June, my herd transhumes on the territory of the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur Region, at the Granges de la Brasque, to enjoy the mountain air and accompany hikers… For centuries, the donkey has been effect, used for carrying goods. Half-day or full-day, therefore, I rent my donkeys, faithful travel companions of the hiker.
This summer 2022, no departure from the Granges de la Brasque still due to the consequences of storm Alex, you can find Sabrina at la Gordolasque and on the markets of Roquebillière and Saint Martin Vésubie.
Opening of the walks at the Granges de la Brasque in mid-September 2022.

Sabrina’s New Idea
For two years now, Sabrina has been working with individuals and town halls for the natural clearing of their land with her donkeys. It is an ecological and suitable way to fight against wasteland, to clear up and maintain your land, while preventing it to fight and act as a barrier to fires. The donkey is a good bush cutter, it eats most Mediterranean plants.
