Bryan Goncalves returned to the Gandonnières training center on August 1. At the end of June, the central defender had however announced his departure from the Laval club. The former Versailles player had not played the last two matches of the National season. The 26-year-old has yet to play in Ligue 2 but has returned to competition with the reserve team. Bryan Goncalves has agreed to confide after this chaotic summer.
Bryan Goncalves: “This summer, a small episode happened, but I feel very good here, as I have always said. I really like the people who are here and the club so my speech by I haven’t changed in relation to that. It’s been a month since I started training again, and I’ve had time to catch up. Now, physically, I’m at the same level as the other players. I feel ready. “
France Bleu Mayenne: “Have you really had contact with Ligue 1 clubs?”
BG: “There have been some contacts. But the most important thing now is Stade Lavallois. It’s not my personal case. I’m here to give everything for the club. What happened this summer, it’s a parenthesis. I’m 100% in the club’s project today. The most important thing is the club, it’s not my personal case”.
FBM: “Do you discover how professional football works?”
BG: “That’s exactly it. When you’re a guy like me who comes from the amateur world, you haven’t always experienced everything in the world of football and that’s part of the trials you have to go through. There’s had this, and there will surely be more in the future. It’s all new for me and the most important thing is to be well. Again, I’m very happy to be here and I have no problem with that.”
FBM: “You come back after announcing your departure. What can you say to the supporters?”
BG: “The only thing I can tell them is that they can count on me. If I have to wet the shirt, I will do it all the way, as I always have. There’s no worry about that. I’m not here to drag my feet. I’m 100% in the club’s project with the team. The staff knows very well that they can count on me and that will never change.”
FBM: “Are you impatient to play your first match in Ligue 2?”
BG: “Yes, I’m very impatient. But, as I’ve always said, the most important thing is the team. As long as the team wins, I’m happy. For me, we’ll see later. Yes, I itch to play. When you’re in the stands, it’s not always fun. But that’s how it is, you have to accept and you have to when you call on me, you have to answer present. I’m available of the coach.”
FBM: “What do you think of the club’s start to the season?”
BG: “Frankly, I think the team is having a good start to the season. We have seven points. I think there are other teams that come from the same level as us who are a little lower in the standings. We made a good start to the championship compared to last year when it was a little more difficult.”
FBM: “Have you always been in contact with the coach or with the president of Laval?”
BG: “Yes. All summer, we were in contact. There was no break in terms of exchanges. We often spoke on the phone. And once again, I had no I especially wanted to leave either for a club of a similar level. It has always been cordial, respectful. I never felt, in any case, that there had been a problem with anyone. I had to respect for my superiors.”
