Can the events planned for Saturday, November 20 advance the cause of women? “Undeniably. All these collectives make the public aware, it makes the public authorities move, it makes people talk about violence against women. This march that you are going to have throughout France is to say stop”, assures Laure Tric, lawyer at the Paris bar and secretary general of Avocats Femmes et Violences, guest of the 23 Hours of franceinfo, Friday, November 19.
“The law is there to protect the victims. It is also there for the perpetrator to be punished. The murder of a woman by her spouse is punishable by an aggravating circumstance of life imprisonment”, recalls Laure Tric.
The associations are demanding a billion euros to have the means to fight against violence against women. “We need means for prevention, for accommodation solutions. In the current state of affairs there are, I believe, 10-12% of women who find accommodation, it is nothing at all”, concludes the lawyer at the Paris bar.
