there will be no French Grand Prix in 2023

There will be no Grand Prix de France in 2023. Formula 1 confirms this Thursday with AFP, after the words of its boss Stefano Domenicali, during a press conference on Wednesday. Thus, Formula 1 does not follow up on the contract started in 2018 and which ended in 2022 for races on the Castellet circuit (Var).

Stefano Domenicali also said during the press conference that discussions were continuing with the promoter of the French GP and that the event could in the future enter into a rotation system with other Grands Prix.

The decision comes as the last Grand Prix de France gathered nearly 200,000 spectators over three days last July around the Castellet circuit in the Var, to witness the victory of Max Verstappen.

The GIP (Public Interest Group-French Grand Prix) should react officially during the day.

Formula 1 fans have already launched a petition this week, asking for the organization of a Grand Prix in France.
