From Wednesday August 24, the rent for energy-intensive housing will no longer be able to increase according to the climate and resilience law. It’s a way of forcing owners to start work. Some of them regret too short deadlines.
Jean-Luc, an owner from the Paris region, requested an energy expertise from his studio. The result turns out to be much worse than expected: it is rated G, the lowest rating in the ranking. The apartment is a thermal strainer. From Wednesday, August 24, he can no longer increase his rent. He intends to put double glazing for the windows and insulate the walls in order to get an E. For the 21 m2 apartment, he will have to pay 2,000 euros.
“When I resell the property at some point, it will be in line with the market and therefore there will be no discount“, he explains. For future tenants, it will be a gain of 20% on energy bills. But the works would have been even more effective if they hadient concerned the entire condominium. The owners’ unions believe that the deadlines are too short.
